Stainless Steel 904L, also named as UNS N08904, or En 1.4539, is an expensive stainless steel. It has excellent resistance to reducing acids, pitting and crevice corrosion, as well as various types of stress corrosion cracking and pitting thanks to its high content of nickel and chromium, as well as additives of molybdenum and copper. However, its price is 4 times of the most popular stainless steel grade 304, therefore it is utilized only in the following fields:

· Wiring in electrostatic precipitators

· Oil refinery components

· Seawater cooling devices

· Gas scrubbing plants

· Pulp and paper processing industries

· Acetic, phosphoric and sulphuric acid processing plants
